I happened to come upon the show scared straight and had to ask myself it really worked. So I though of if it did not work why it would still be used. So I came up to that the show was a dram and being a dram people like to watch that and feel the dram and not see it. Also the popularity of the show on TLC helps to pay for the show and keep it going. It also might even make people want to do bad things more so that they can rebail against the show. It might also have kids doing bad things just in the hopes of getting on to the show. This made me think of do they have any way of stopping this reaction to the show. I could not think of any way the show would stop this or get around it. I know for another highly popular show called Ridicules on TMZ deals with this problem by saying they will not use the mail they get of people sending stuff to them.
This idea that some people would go far off the normal path to do what they want that maybe that then affects the other half of the people on the normal need that are trying to reach the goals that society sets. That by the one side being pushed so much if it would then make the other side then have to shift just a bit to deal with them. Like the game “World Of Goo” the fact that when you build something it has to balance its self out after so long or it will type over. This it leads to the problem that that is a game and the player of the game places the goo where they need to be so what makes the people go to ether side in society to help balance this scale so it does not fall over in deviance. I could list that some do it as seeing as it the easy way out of problems they face for others it is wrong so the go working harder to reach the goals they want. There are also the other people in society that have there own reasons for going what they want when they want. It might be as simple as they want to try it or as complex as they had tons of things happen in there life which lead them into thinking that they should try something different from the normal ideas of society.
